Apprehension

It flourishes mercilessly,
In your head,
Your chest,
Even your fingers, toes.

And afflicts,
For the most part,
When expectations are none.

It swells and suffocates,
Isolates,
Annihilates.
Everything you fought so hard to build.

How cruel can it be?
As it thrives, in your insides.
Festering on your insecurities.
